Took a quick reprieve from Fashion Week to enjoy a relaxing brunch at the Refinery Hotel rooftop with some old (and new!) friends. I'm convinced there's nothing a little sangria in the afternoon can't fix (including aching feet).
If you're in need of a quick getaway yourself, the folks over at Pavan are offering a Paris and French Riviera vacation. You can enter here. Good luck!

Packing for Fashion Week always makes me a bundle of nerves -- and I either end up overpacking or underpacking (I detest the latter). This time around, I was beyond excited to partner with one of my favorite San Francisco boutiques, Elizabeth Charles to style a few pieces I've had my eye on this past season -- this Marissa Webb dress being among the first I reached for. I wore this for back to back shows and meetings and despite the muggy heat, felt on point all day.

Just some snaps from our East Hampton getaway this past weekend. I don't know about you, but I'm having a hard time shaking vacation mode these days. Three-day weekend, where did you go?

Not that I'm complaining -- just sayin'. 🙂

weekend in the hamptons

2 minute read
Dress: Robert Rodriguez c/o Intermix; Hat: J.Crew (loving this felt version for fall!); Sandals: Target; Bag: J.Crew; Sunglasses: Celine; Bike: rented from Khan Sports in East Hampton
It's undeniable. Heather and I love our long weekend trips (especially of the California variety -- remember Santa Barbara?). So when we randomly decided to head out to the Hamptons for Labor Day, we realized we were quite overdue to make this tradition bicoastal. Of course, having never stepped foot in the Hamptons (aside from experiencing it vicariously through Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte), we were excited for all the little things, like:
1. The Jitney. A surprisingly comfortable ride with snacks and Wifi to boot? Yes, please!
2. Riding around on beach cruisers. By the end of our trip, I'm positive we clocked around 24 miles around town.
3. Fresh fish. AND the lobster rolls.
4. On that note, chow-dah too.
5. Channeling our inner wasps with lots of stripes, crisp whites and pastels.
6. Enjoying this view for a few days with picnic grub on hand.
Next Labor Day? Watch out Montauk, here we come!
On a somewhat related note, I'll be in New York for the next few weeks, follow along here on Instagram!

cheers to that {french 75}

2 minute read
You can never have too many cocktail recipes that call for champagne -- especially during the summer months. And lately, instead of sipping on mimosas for our weekend brunches, I've been whipping up an old favorite of mine: French 75. It's extremely easy to throw together and makes for the perfect excuse to bust out the cocktail shaker (instantly assuring your guests you know your way around a bar, even if you really don't). Here's what you need:
1 lemon
3 tablespoons gin (I have Juniper gin here)
1 and a half tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
1 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup sparkling wine (We've been loving this blanc de blanc by Francis Coppola)
As far as prep:
Combine gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake for about 20 seconds until well mixed. Strain into a chilled champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Use a paring knife to slice peel from lemon in a long, thin strip. Curl the peel around your finger allowing it to take a spiral shape. Garnish glass. Or if you're like me and completely hopeless when it comes to lemon art, cut a thin slice from lemon and garnish the side of the glass instead.
And enjoy!

Wine courtesy of Francis Coppola.

More often than not, I tend to shy away from anything body-con (much to my boyfriend's dismay) but from time to time, I can't deny having a little va-va-voom moment, especially for a night out of dinner and drinks. I scooped up this Dolce & Gabbana number over a year ago now and am actually quite ashamed it's take me this long to share it here on the blog. I like to think of it as my nod (humble and incomparable nod, of course) to Sophia Loren.

revel, revel

Remember the four-way stretch memory jeans I mentioned a few days ago? Well I think I may have found my new favorite pair (and will be snagging different colors soon). As someone who loathes jean shopping (read: long torso, short legs) I tend to get discouraged when everything I try on is way too long and not flattering around my waist and thigh section. I love how these Revels actually hug my curves and nicely cinch me in where I need cinching. 🙂
This denim on denim ensemble is what I wore for the Levi's event Julia and I hosted the other night. It was also the perfect time to debut these Olympias I've been meaning to style. (I even swiped on some red lipstick right before so I could match my moon's pout.)

I don't know about you, but this time of year always makes me anxious. Fashion Week rolls in all too fast, end of summer plans quickly take up each weekend and Q3 work goals kick into high gear for the end of the year. So what am I going to do about it?
Well I'm excited to partner with the folks over at Sensation, a world-wide electronic dance event coming to our very own San Francisco, to cut loose for a night! It may not be able to pack my bags for NYC for me -- but I'm certainly stoked to partake in what should be a pyro-effect filled evening. Oh, and my favorite part, aside from partying the night away with Heather, is the all-white dress code (a sartorial choice near and dear to my heart). Care to join? Heather and I will be hosting a live one-hour Twitter chat tomorrow at 12 pm PST where  you could win two tickets for the September 14th party (valued at $250 a piece) -- so follow me on Twitter at @KrystalBick and stay tuned!

An oh-so-necessary end of season sale item. I stalked it for months when it was full price and snagged the last one at Barneys at a ridiculous price. Stella, you never disappoint.
Nothing soothes the soul like a day out in wine country. Every time I make it out, I'm always baffled as to why I don't go more often.
The occasion for wine country? Celebrating this gal's birthday (which meant lots of mid to late 90s rap for the day, and, of course, outfit pics).
And let the September issues roll in! Kind of obsessed with J.Law on the cover here (and I'm a bit fanatic over her pinky ring!).
My ride this summer. Just need to find a wicker basket large enough for Elvis now.
While I'm more of a red wine gal myself, I can't seem to get enough of lighter, crisper wines this summer and this new line by Francis Coppola is hitting all the right notes! Plus, I'm a sucker for pretty packaging -- just begs to be taken on a picnic.
Just getting my bloom shoppin' on. Serious business, obvi. 🙂

Attention San Francisco folks: I'll be co-hosting with my Outside Lands partner in crime, Julia, a fun shopping event with Levi's this coming Tuesday. We'll be toasting the launch of their new denim line, Revel, which I'm excited to say, have made this girl a believer in denim technology (hello four-way stretch memory fabric). Hope you'll be able to stop by for champagne, music, and of course, some shopping. Make sure to RSVP to: LeviRevelEventSF@glamour.com.

3. Indulging in crispy mac & cheese. I'd be lying if I didn't admit I kinda miss it now!
4. Singing along to Red Hot Chili Peppers at the top of our lungs. Especially for this number.
Make sure you catch my first day and second day outfits! Huge thanks again to the Asos team for having me!

the san francisco {shopping} treat

2 minute read
Top: The Row (similar style here); Shirt: Topshop (similar style here); Shoes: J.W. Anderson X Aldo; Sunglasses: Celine; Lips: MAC "Ruby Woo"; Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner (here and here)
While I've lived in San Francisco for close to 4 years now, I still like to think I'm exploring little pockets of the city all the time and LOVE discovering new gems to visit (and revist and revisit and revisit ... you get the picture). Nearest and dearest to my heart, of course, is the shopping this city has to offer (restaurants are a close second -- we'll save that for another day though). Here are a few favorite shopping haunts of mine that I love to frequent -- I hope they treat you well!
Jeremy's: I can't sing enough praises for this place -- the ultimate discount designer department store with some of the greatest sale staff around. Ever wondered where I scored this, this, this and this (at a fraction of their original costs?). Well, now you know. Plus, they're located in the super cute nook-like neighborhood of South Park, where you can grab a great brunch at The Butler and the Chef after shopping.
Elizabeth & Charles: This cozy boutique is right up the way from my apartment on Fillmore, so I love popping in while running weekend errands, just to see what new items they have in. Expect lots of Isabel Marant, Kenzo, Carven and Roksanda Ilincic.
Curve: Also right up the way from me on Fillmore, Curve is quickly becoming one of my go-to stops for statement jewelry (expect lots of modern designers like Tom Bins mixed with fun estate pieces). They also carry lots of Proenza, so #GameOver for me.  😉
Sui Generis: Another designer consignment store, Sui Generis is great for older, more vintage pieces, but I tend to always make a beeline for their shoes.
The Real Real: OK, so maybe this is cheating a bit since The Real Real is a designer flash sale site and not an actual store, but I tend to think of them as more local since they're based in the Bay Area. I love getting a great deal, especially on designer clothing -- and have been hooked on The Real Real for going on a few years now. My prized loot includes this guy, this guy and, who could forget, this guy. And there's plenty more where that came from. You can sign up for membership with my code right here.

Life certainly has been hectic lately, but I've been trying to make time for little things that I enjoy, in particular...
1.) Late brunches with girlfriends (at my new neighborhood favorite, Rose's Cafe).
2.) Running around like crazy with this guy in Golden Gate Park. Just look at how muddy he got!
3.) Major consignment score from The Real Real (you can sign up with my invite code here).
4.) Trying out new-to-me theaters in my 'hood like the Clay Street Theatre -- Blue Jasmine was the perfect excuse to go! I'm a sucker for Woody Allen films.
5.) Playing dress up at my home away from home, Jeremy's. How insane is that green L'Wren Scott dress?!
6.) Finally checking out the Winchester Mystery House and it was every bit creepy and odd as I expected.
7.) Cheering on my boys!
8.) Riding bikes through the park only to stumble upon the Golden Gate Park Band playing, "A Spoon Full of Sugar." Given that I loved all the Mary Poppins books while growing up, we stayed for their whole set.
9.) Another bucket list item for me -- finally checking out the San Francisco Symphony, as they accompanied a live screening of The Matrix.
As always, you can follow along right here on Instagram

Sorry for the recent interruption in posts these days -- things have gotten a bit hectic with work kicking my butt lately (in the best way possible) on top of the fact my mom just flew into town for a quick visit. I don't see things slowing down here anytime soon but I hope to get my life back in order this weekend, with a slew of outfit posts and even that elusive SF shopping guide I mentioned a few posts back. As always, thanks for stopping by and stay tuned!

I've professed my love of this jacket before (ahem, here) and I still can't get over how I somehow survived all these years without it. It's among the many gems originally found at my home away from home, Jeremy's -- which now has got me thinking, perhaps it's time for me to put together a San Francisco shopping cheat sheet. Long overdue, right?

There's plenty I love about this outfit (especially those heels that I've been eyeing forever now!) but I think I'm beyond smitten with Ms. Ulyana Sergeenko's new haircut. I'm afraid I'm in a hair rut again these days and this is photo is definitely tempting me. Thoughts? Am I crazy?

this & that: america’s cup

2 minute read
As I mentioned yesterday, I was beyond excited and honored to attend an America's Cup race with the Camper team this past weekend to cheer on New Zealand (go Kiwis!). While I've lived in San Francisco for close to four years now (crazy how time flies!), I rarely get to experience the city from the water. Luckily, SF put her best face forward with clear skies and plenty of sun. Here are a few of my favorite highlights:
Shopping at Intermix in Marin the day before the race for the perfect outfit. How amazing are these shoes? // I eventually picked out this Robert Rodriguez dress from Intermix to wear for the day -- and I'm so glad I did. I'm a sucker for a little white dress, what can I say?
A delicious little treat at our VIP dinner Friday night. // Starting the race morning off right with a round of bloody marys (although I skipped this and opted for a mimosa).
Hanging with my partner in crime, Lindsey, at the Clift Hotel. // Speaking of the Clift Hotel, how envious are we of this bar set up?
Loved our crew of the day: Britt and Whit and Lindsey
Team Italy rounding a corner during the final lap. // View from under the Bay Bridge.
