Dress: Robert Rodriguez, exclusively at Intermix; Jacket: Zara (been eyeing this one for a while now); Sandals: Zara; Clutch: Kate Spade; Sunglasses: Celine; Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner (here and here)
This past weekend definitely proved to be one of my favorites yet. On Friday and Saturday, I was lucky enough to be invited out to join some of the America's Cup festivities, including watching a live boat race on Saturday (pinch me!). This little white frock, scooped up from my new haunt, Intermix, out in Marin, proved to be the perfect "I'm on a boat" number (which let's face it, is always a hard setting to dress for). Stay tuned for more photos tomorrow!

Truth be told, I felt my outfit here may have been giving Gallagher a run for his money. Of course, I realized this after I left my apartment for work in the morning so #NoTurningBackNow.

Hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July! We soaked up the sun (and our fair share of watermelon and pie) down in Paso Robles. Oh, and Elvis learned how to swim. All around, great weekend!

Seems like right after I curse San Francisco weather, we have a beautiful weekend like this past one. Since we're not ones to waste it, we checked off some of our summer to-dos which included:
1. Introducing Elvis to the ocean (he loves how cold the water is but hates the waves).
2. Finally started reading this book out on the beach while said introduction was going on. Love it so far.
3. Rode our bikes around half of San Francisco (the goal was to make it all the way around though).
4. Stopped off at the new Bi-Rite on Divisadero for some Mint Chip and Brown Sugar ice cream. Yum!

How was your weekend?

First on my trip bucket list: Washington Square Park
As you may have spied around on the interwebs, the man friend and I escaped San Francisco last week for a whirlwind NYC vacation. I've been looking forward to this trip for some time now for a number of reasons, the main two being: a.) I've been having serious summer weather withdrawals lately. While I love San Francisco to pieces, a girl sometimes needs something above 65 degrees to really don her new spring dresses and b.) I feel like every time I'm in New York, I'm rushing around for work and don't really get a chance to just get lost for no reason.

As you can imagine, there were plenty of meals and one too many cocktails to be had and it was just what I needed! New York, you sure know how to show a girl (and her man friend) a good time. We'll be back very soon!
Shhhhhhh! The Rose Reading Room at the New York Public Library // Finally seeing the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit at The Met.
The most delicious goat cheese tart in the Upper East Side.
Obligatory hot dog shot (eaten on the Met steps. Blair would be proud). // View from our room at The Empire (I guess that would make Chuck proud?).
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Sheep's Meadow in Central Park // Watching Tom Hanks in the Broadway play "Lucky Guy" -- one word: AMAZING.
View from the top of the Empire State Building.
My first reaction to this window at Barneys: "Uh oh" as I proceeded to walk in. // The tastiest (and prettiest) treats at Lafayette Bakery.
View from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park
Hands down, this dress was the best packing decision. Loved wearing this around the city.
Ground Zero // The sweetest park bench dedication I've ever read.
An eerie super moon over Lincoln Center on our last evening in NYC.

To all my Bay Area readers, mark your calendars...one of my favorite boutiques, Intermix, is opening just a hop and a skip away in Marin (pinch me!). Grand opening festivities begin tomorrow evening from 5 to 7pm at the Larkspur Landing Circle shopping center in Marin with plenty of champagne and, of course, shopping to be had.  Exact address is as follows:
2409 Larkspur Landing Circle.
Hope to see your lovely faces there!

I've always been fascinated by libraries (the older the better, in my book!). So when we stopped by the New York Public Library at Bryant Park this past weekend, I was in heaven. Literally could have stayed there all day (but we eventually came out for our reservations at Balthazar, much to my stomach's delight!).

Thank god for denim cut outs on hot days. Bonus points if they're in a zebra pattern, am I right? Wore this outfit for a day of cruising around the West Village, where I had to refrain from sitting on too many front stoops. (They're all just too cute -- it's hard to resist!)
Heading out today to check out The Met and I'm beyond excited as I've never actually been!

leaving on a jet plane…

< 1 minute

Just some tunes I'll be listening to en route to NYC this morning. Hello, New York! It's been too long!

P.S. I'm excited to share a fun little contest with you guys with the luxury jewelry house Piaget (jewelry is never bad eye candy during a long flight, am I right?). Simply create a Pinterest board titled "La Vie en Rose" complete with your rose-colored glasses inspiration for a chance to win one of these envy-worthy iconic pieces. Full contest details can be found here and if you need a starting point, you can always check out my board here (I definitely went the vintage-Givenchy-clad Sabrina route). A few things to note: Make sure you follow Piaget on Pinterest here and tag each pin with #PiagetRose. Bonne chance!

There's nothing quite as satisfying as finding new ways to wear an old dress. Take this white pleated Topshop dress I picked up last summer for instance. I've worn it with a leather corset (seen here), numerous slouchy sweaters (seen here and here), and even as a beach cover up (seen here). I've been meaning to pair it with this vest for some time now and rather liked the mixed proportions feel of it. Any pieces in your closet you love remixing?

my so-called {instagram} life

< 1 minute
Outfit posts have been slowing down here lately (caught a bit of a cold last week) but that doesn't mean  things won't be in full swing soon! To tide you over, here's a peek at what I've been up to the past few weeks.
1. Celebrated the wedding one of my dearest friends and former college roommates last weekend. So fun catching up with old friends and tearing up the dance floor!
2. I blame this next one on my cold, but I thought it would be fun to start an Instagram account for my pup, Elvis. You can follow his corgi adventures at elvis_thecorgi
3. I can now officially check off "be an extra on the set of a movie" from my bucket list. If any of you happen to catch the new Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson movie "The Internship" you might just catch the back of my head in one scene! (Hey, it's the little things that count, right?)
4. "Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee...."
5. Gotta love sale season! Scored these Olympia babies on The Real Real.
6. Sitting front row at the Academy of Art graduation presentation.

I've always been smitten with Natalie Joos' style (along with everyone else, I'm sure), but lately I've really been looking to her for color and print inspiration. I love how fearless she is with vintage and contemporary pieces alike -- and her shoe collection, well, puts most to shame. Not to mention, she gives me total ponytail envy.

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! While we didn't leave for Tahoe as I was originally rooting for, we certainly enjoyed a very local three-day weekend and I couldn't be happier about it. First on my list? I got my butt down to the de Young Museum where I wandered around the "Girl with the Pearl Earring" exhibit. To my fellow San Franciscans, make sure you catch this before it ends June 2!
My favorite time of year -- when the mulberry trees bloom!
Very honored to have been included in the San Francisco Chronicle's weekend piece on the Bay Area blogger scene. You can read the full story here.
A Monday date with the man friend at the San Francisco Zoo. Neither one us had been to the zoo in years -- I forgot how much I freak out over the penguins and, of course, the giraffes.
An outtake from yesterday's look. Not pictured? Everyone on that cable car cheering as they passed us.
While I'm much more of a Manhattan kind of girl, I've been craving gin and tonics lately. Must be summer kicking in!

This dress usually marks the beginning of summer for me. Truth be told, I've had it for several years now (just a random purchase at Zara) and every time I think to sell or donate it, I always end up saving it from the discard pile. I like to think of it as my Carrie Bradshaw dress, perfect for weekend brunch (or in this case, an impromptu wine and dinner date) with the gals.

I've loved this Carolina Herrera print since it debuted a few seasons ago (I mean, just how adorable does Stephanie LaCava look in it?!) so I was beyond excited when I snagged this skirt on major sale via The Real Real. After all, I love me a good bird print (as seen here).
And while we're on the topic of the aforementioned link, look how short my hair was a year ago! I'm due for a cut this weekend -- shall I chop much shorter similar to last year's cut or just trim it?

As I mentioned in yesterday's Miami Vice-esque post, Heather and I headed south a few days ago for a quick weekend road trip. Our destination? Santa Barbara! Entirely last minute trip and it came together so beautifully. It's amazing what a little R&R outside of your normal routine and city can do for you. Wonders really! I'm already going through sunshine withdrawals and missing these vivid pink flowers sprinkled around the cute beachy neighborhoods.
The first of many margarita rounds.
What better way to arrive in Santa Barbara than an orange Camaro? Thanks again to the folks over at GM for the perfect set of wheels for our road trip. We may or may not have indulged in more than our fair share of 90s music in this guy.
A pit stop on the way down. Hey, we never turn down a good wine tasting opportunity.
The true pièce de résistance of the weekend -- this Proenza Schouler skirt (found at one of my favorite boutiques, dressed) came home with me the instant I saw the drastically reduced price. Just ask Heather, she had to peel me from the sale rack after I spotted it.

< 1 minute
Jacket, shirt and shorts: c/o Ted Baker; Sunglasses: Karen Walker; Shoes: Zara; Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner (here and here)
Huge thanks to everyone who came out last night to the Ted Baker 25th anniversary party! Definitely great seeing old friends and making new ones -- especially while donning a little print on print action, like the number above. I'm not usually one to rock shorts (you'll notice they don't happen often here on the blog), but the birds in mid-flight print made me reconsider, and fast.
P.S. You can still enter to win a trip to Scotland thanks to the folks over at Ted Baker. Just enter here.

Very, very, very, very, very wishful thinking. But seriously, how good are these?!
Also, I hope to see you, dear SF readers, tonight at the Ted Baker boutique on Grant Avenue where I'll be hosting the evening's events! More details can be found here -- but all you need to know is: festivities start at 6, drinks will be flowing and they're offering 25% off storewide.  Not too shabby for a Thursday, if you ask me!
