another fall must have

< 1 minute

I picked up these skinny cargos at Forever 21 just a few weeks ago and have been having fun remixing them in a ton of different outfits. As for this belt, just another reason why I love the flea market. Five dollars. Five dollars for the Moschino belt!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Blouse: White silk button front shirt, H&M
Pants: Skinny cargos, Forever 21
Shoes: Nude heels, Aldo
Belt: Moshino statement belt, vintage via the flea market

EDIT: Ha, just realized that the M and the S need to be switched around on this belt. I have a "Woshino" belt. Silly me.

survey time

2 minute read

Let's take a poll: So the last time I did anything with my hair was circa 2008, when I took the plunge and chopped these bangs you see now. Of course, this was BB (before my blog) so you guys never witnessed the transformation.

How do we feel about chopping a little Alexa Chung longer bob? I don't know what I would do with the bangs just yet, if I would keep them or grow them out, I'm still trying to envision the whole look of it still.

Show of hands, all in favor, say "I'm a rotten cucumber."

Ha, or just raise your hand. Either way.

Lately, I've been living in these wide-leg jeans, giving my skinny jeans a much needed rest. I actually forgot how much I like a little flare to my pants, especially how they perfectly hide all but a little peek of your heels if long enough.

How are you guys incorporating the wide(r) leg trend? Bell bottoms? Wide leg trousers? Boot cut?

navajo prints and foggy mornings

2 minute read

For all of those of you who helped out yesterday in my earnest search for the elusive canvas Chloe knockoff boot, I finally found them! Several of you lovelies tipped me off to a site that appeared to have been sold out of my size, but my fate with the internet gods turned around when they suddenly had a few size 7s left in stock. So...thank you, thank you, thank you!

As for this skirt, I picked it up over the weekend at a consignment shop. I absolutely love the navajo print of it, it's wool material and the fact that it's not so humid now in the mornings so I can bundle in lots of layers. In fact, I'm having a hard time seeing out my windows right now, the fog is so dense I'll need a spoon to dig my way to the bus stop this morning. (heading to silverware drawer now...)

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

milk carton ad

2 minute read

Ever this I saw this photo (via Vanessa Jackman) I've been wearing all jackets, blazers and sweaters resting on my shoulders. Isn't it amazing how it can look and feel like an entirely new piece of clothing this way?

For inquiring minds, I worked on my fall WANT list this past weekend and I think I've done pretty well thus far. Picked up this camel blazer you see here at a thrift store (probably will pick up a warmer camel coat later though), a camel beret, a few saddle bags, this leopard print stole (from ModCloth), a wide brim felt fedora hat and a sheer skirt.

My only nemesis: THESE CANVAS WEDGE BOOTS. I had my eye on a pair at a store on Haight Street, only to show up on Saturday to find out they were completely sold out. So I thought, no biggie, I'll find them online. NOPE. Not a single pair online in the color I wanted (tan). Nada. Zilch. Zippo! How can the entire internet be sold out?

Hence, I turn to you, lovelies, consider this my ad on the milk carton for a missing child: "Have you seen these boots? Please contact Krystal at krystal@weardrobe.com."

Thanks guys and I hope everyone has a great week ahead!

anorak

2 minute read

I've been having fun pairing this long anorak jacket with lots of things lately: shorts, maxi dresses, short skirts…I wonder if it would work as a dress itself? Has anyone tried this theory out? Perhaps with numerous belts and over the knee boots…

There's something so great about seasons changing, right before you start to pick up on the next round of shopping. You start looking at things in your closet that have been tucked away and start giving them new life, combining them with summer favorites, interpreting them all over again to feel fresh.

What items are you guys enjoying remixing this fall?

to market, to market

2 minute read

I recently discovered the wonder that is San Francisco flea markets over the weekend and I couldn't be more thrilled! Just when I thought every thrift store I would find here would be overpriced and a bit stuffy (don't get me wrong, I love them still!), I was able to get away for a little bit Sunday morning and head to the Alemany Flea Market.

To my fellow San Franciscans, I highly recommend that you go. There's a little bit of digging required on your part, but totally worth it! I was able to stretch $20 and get some pretty awesome things (post coming soon!) and with Halloween right around the corner, I think my next outfit waits for me there.

Do you guys know what you want to be for Halloween yet?

Was running a bit late for work the other day and went for my go-to menswear outfit. I couldn't ask for a more laid back, yet still professional looking fit. My hair, on the other hand, I can't explain. It appears my top knot was on steroids and slightly intoxicated for the day, hence the lean. Can't win 'em all I suppose.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

cognac + heather gray

2 minute read

Yep. Day #2 for a lady-like skirt and I'm telling ya, I think I'm addicted, folks. Because of modest length, you ask? Nah. Because of chillier, fall weather? Nope. Because of the ease of sitting in a chair or riding a bike? Negative, not that either.

I love it because I don't have to pull/shimmy/hold this thing down 100 different ways on my walk up to the bus stop. We've all been there, it's no fun. And walking UP a STEEP hill (ahem, Hayes, I'm talking to you!), only makes it worse.

That said, I love this color combo, cognac and heather gray! Yum! Happy Friday, everyone!

finer than silk

2 minute read

I think my champion of fall has to be the silk button down shirt. Similar to what last year's blazer trend became, my outfits lately have been floating around the possibility of adding silk button down shirts here and there. With leather shorts. With trousers. Over dresses and tied in front knots. Endless, I tell you!

They're my go-to these days and add just a nice touch of class without much effort (besides the effort, of course, of trying to button buttons in a hurry while the bus to work leaves you behind.) But that, my friends, is a time management issue. My problem, not yours.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

ocean of noise

2 minute read

Picked up two of my fall must-haves over the past few weeks: leather shorts and a camel coat. Well, the camel coat was a purchase last year, but it's been proving to be really current with everyone's obsession as it being the "it" color. Knowing me, I might have to pick up another camel coat, one with longer sleeves perhaps.

How was everyone's weekend? I saw these guys just last night and I'm still in a dream from it.

(P.S. If you haven't already, watch the video above in Chrome. You won't regret it!)

Spent Sunday walking around the Ferry building and checking out the old penny arcade museum right down the way from Fisherman's Wharf. Never seen so many "Test your love" meter games in my life. So yes, if you must know, I fluctuated between "Cold fish" and "Hot damn!"

there you are…

2 minute read

This weekend left me realizing that summer really does come in a bite size package that San Francisco likes to call September. Saturday was 80 degrees and Sunday, whew, I lost count. Originally a desert rat (for those of you who remember, I'm from Nevada) this kind of weather shouldn't phase me. I've melted in much worse. But this weekend I was a wilting flower, complaining about the heat. Does this make me an official San Franciscan now?

Either way, I seized the weekend and went to Golden Gate (in heels mind you!) and then the wharf for some clam chowder and Ghirardelli for ice cream. Absolutely beautiful.

So I have some unfinished (and exciting) business to attend to! As mentioned a few weeks back, we hosted some fun contests on Weardrobe recently, the first being the Market Publique Time After Time contest and the second being the ModCloth Mod Honor Roll contest. Here, lovely readers, I give you the winners!

First up, I have the gorgeous Miss Rachel of Studio Swag. She is the proud winner of the Market Publique contest, and will be flying out to NYC in Oct. to partake in her very own photo shoot. I can't wait to see what her and the brilliant Pamela come up with!

Second, I have Laia, Margaret and Annie who all won in the Mod Honor Roll contest. These lovelies have all received some awesome loot from ModCloth to style up on their own and have been featured in their very own style story on ModCloth's homepage. Do check it out!

Big, big, BIG thanks to both Market Publique and ModCloth for being unbelievably AWESOME for both of these contests! Love you both! And congrats, ladies!

penelope strikes again

2 minute read

And in the spirit of borrowing from Penelope, here's another number inspired by my darling dress form gal! The volume of this skirt with the rest of the jacket made the proportions of this outfit rather fun, like I had to prance around while wearing it. I love feeling frilly sometimes. Who doesn't?

Went to San Francisco's Fashion's Night Out last night with my friend, Meghan, and had an incredible time! Only downside, I found the most beautiful pair of leather shorts, just a little out of my price range. Where you ask? I'm not telling! I hid them purposefully in the store so I could sneak back and visit/purchase/whisper sweet nothings to them.

Sigh.

coffee table reading

< 1 minute

Hope you're all having a beautiful three-day weekend! I wish I could say that I DIDN'T need this trench coat at some point over the past couple of days, but I suppose Mark Twain really was right about San Fran summers.

Spending today to finish up a few things around my apartment, namely picking up some art to decorate the walls with and possibly finding the elusive coffee table. I say elusive because after driving to 7, yes, 7 different furniture stores I can't seem to decide on one. You'd think I was picking my mate for life at this rate.

what a whirl

2 minute read

It's always so crazy to me to meet bloggers in real life. It's as if I know this person, on the other side of the computer screen is a living, breathing, functioning member of society somewhere in the world, just not MY world.

Cue my story from earlier this week.

I was hurring, no scratch that, busting my ass to run up Hayes to catch the bus to work. What kind of sick idiot wears platform clogs to run to the bus? Oh right, this sick idiot. With only 5 minutes to get there and extremely short of breath from both running and cursing myself for being so out of shape, I heard someone randomly call my name out from the street as they were driving by.

Rachael, a sweet reader of this little ol' blog of mine, was waving out the window, yelling. Talk about a wake up call for me! First of all, thank you for saying hi. And secondly, thank you for the ride to the bus. It was much appreciated! And surreal at the same time.

Any fun stories you guys have about meeting bloggers IRL? Would love to hear them!

style mantra

2 minute read

I remember the lovely Jessica of What I Wore posting about this a few weeks ago, but as a fashion blogger, it's easy to compare yourself a lot. I have to admit, there are mornings I wake up and get discouraged because I don't have a certain pair of shoes that so and so wears these days or my vintage dresses don't quite have the same feel as another blogger's. And of course, there's the ever perpetuating dilemma: why can't I own everything Chloe Sevigny wears?!

And then I remind myself: let it go.

Stay true to who YOU are.
