"Maybe you should go to Paris, Linus."
Humphrey Bogart as Linus: "To Paris?"
Audrey Hepburn as Sabrinna: "It helped me a lot. Have you ever been there?"
Linus: "Oh, yes. Yes. Once. I was there for thirty-five minutes."
Sabrina: "Thirty-five MINUTES?"
Linus: "Changing planes. I was on my way to Iraq on an oil deal."
Sabrina: "Oh, but Paris isn't for changing planes, it's -- it's for changing your outlook, for -- for throwing open the windows and letting in -- letting in la vie en rose."
Linus: "Paris is for lovers. Maybe that's why I stayed only thirty-five minutes."
Some of my favorite scenes from Sabrina are with Bogart and Hepburn at the Larrabee offices, usually with Hepburn trying to shake the stuffy business man out of Bogart. Of course, when it came time to location scout a mid-century modern style office space, I immediately thought of James Nord and his office space at Fohr headquarters. Fortunately, he was a great sport about it all and let us invade for a few hours (thank you, James!!).
As for this look, I wanted to take Audrey's signature LBD outfit from the movie and make it feel both modern and timeless. And as luck would have it, this Mary Katrantzou dress came into my life at exactly the right time -- I snagged it on sale back in October and I was waiting for the perfect TTT Classics series for it to be a part of. If you look closely, the pattern actually contains caged butterflies underneath the first layer of tulle, which gives it a sort of hazed, out of focus sort of effect. Naturally, the length was perfect for twirling (an Audrey must) and the elbow length gloves are becoming a new staple in my evening rotation.
Last, and certainly not least, these two handsome gentlemen complete the look -- their solo shots here just kill me! I like to think they'd give Bogart and Holden a run for their money.
