Did any of you happen to catch the clip of Kristen Bell on the Ellen show, talking about sloths, of all things? (If not, I highly suggest you watch this video when you have a spare 5 minutes today.) In any case, I react pretty similarly when I see a corgi out and about, much to my boyfriend's amusement (or perhaps embarrassment?). So really, it was only a matter of time before I begged asked my coworker to let me "borrow" his 3-month old corgi named "Mostly" for an impromptu photo shoot at the office. While I admit my outfit here isn't much to rave about -- I couldn't help but post these photos. I mean, look at that face in the first photo!

black tie holiday

< 1 minute
Dress: Mina + Olya (borrowed); Clutch: Vintage; Heels (not pictured): Stella McCartney
As promised yesterday, here's a gorgeous gown generously on loan from the ladies over at Mina + Olya. While I don't have many black tie events on my calendar throughout the year, they're a great excuse to really go all out when you do have one. Besides, who can say no to having a train for the evening?
Speaking of, did you catch me and a few of my favorite other SF blogging ladies in this Refinery29 holiday style feature yesterday?

designer studio: mina + olya

3 minute read
If you recall from a few weeks back, I recently sported this blue wool dress, sharing my newfound love for the San Francisco-based design duo -- Mina + Olya. What I didn't share, however, is how I just came to meet these lovely ladies. While I had admired them from afar (especially after Erin's post about them here) I hadn't actually tried on one of their pieces until their team graciously shared one with me to style for myself. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity. Their designs are perfect for a working woman's wardrobe -- polished, timeless silhouettes with an element of surprise in the details and fabric. (Plus, their manufacturing processes are completely sustainable and based in the Bay Area.)
The dress was, needless to say, a hit at work, after which I headed out to a few evening events where I bumped into Olya herself. We were standing in the middle of the H&M Margiela pre-launch shopping event chaos, arms full of clothes we had just grabbed, both totally surprised and delighted to meet the other! We promptly made plans for me to visit their studio, and of course, to meet Mina -- all of which was a perfect way to spend this past Sunday. Being former colleagues at a financial consulting firm (they quickly bonded over their love of good clothing and design), Mina and Olya chatted with me about how they first started out, the challenges and triumphs of launching your own business with your best friend and how to find the perfect fabric.
Here are just a few snaps from my afternoon with them -- I hope you enjoy! And be sure to stay tuned for an extra special outfit post tomorrow. You might be seeing a particular Mina + Olya design around these parts...

Above: Moodboards, moodboards, moodboards!

If I'm a repeat offender of anything, it's probably my affinity for white button front, collared shirts. They're the gift that keeps on giving -- for work with pencil skirts or for play with boyfriend jeans and pointy toe heels. How I keep justifying why I need another one, I'm not entirely sure -- but I do know that this men's-inspired one from J.Crew is my new go-to. It's a crisp cotton so it holds its shape well throughout the day and gives a little structure to an otherwise whimsical outfit.

Apparently I was craving color. And lots of it! Speaking of which, it's time to start searching for holiday dresses. While I typically opt for a classic LBD for our company holiday party, I'm tempted to try out some gem tones this year. Perhaps emerald green, sapphire or ruby?
What are you ladies wearing this year? Any top contenders you're deciding between? Our party is coming up (two weekends from now to be exact!) so I need all the inspiration I can get!

what’s in my bag?

2 minute read
You can tell a lot about a gal by what she totes around in her bag on a daily basis. Here's a peek into mine:
1.) Celine trapeze bag: I think this bag may have officially turned me into a bag lady. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a shoe gal at heart, but I have a wandering eye...
2.) Yves Saint Laurent cat eye sunglasses: I'm a big sucker for tortoiseshell and cat eye shapes when it comes to sunglasses. This pair had me at hello.
3.) Proenza Schouler wallet: I'm obsessed with this wallet as it doubles as a chic clutch when necessary!
4.) Michael Kors watch: Glued to my wrist.
5.) Notebook: I always have a small notebook on me for jotting down random ideas, addresses, stores or places I pass and want to go back and visit. Remnant of my days as a reporter.
6.) The Perks of Being a Wallflower: You'll rarely catch me without a book -- I enjoy my downtime during my work commute with a good page turner. While I finished Perks a while back now, I'm making my way onto Cloud Atlas -- have any of you read it yet? Thoughts?
7.) The New Yorker: My sister asked me what I wanted for Christmas last year -- I told her a subscription to The New Yorker. Hands down, still one of my favorite gifts! (Thanks sis!)
8.) Android phone: My other left arm. Can't function without it!
9.) Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick: A moisturizing light lipstick, perfect for daytime wear.
10.) Chanel compact: Touch ups on the go -- comes in handy when you're running from a late work meeting to happy hour, which I often am.
11.) L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes: I'm a mascara junkie and like trying new kinds often. I recently got hooked on this particular one by L'Oreal and love how dramatic they make my lashes look.
12.) Hand Sanitizer: I take antibacterial hand gel with me wherever I go. I'm currently using one which is French lavender scented and great for travel. I'm very concious about hygiene so I tend to go through a lot of sanitizer, especially when I'm travelling.
Now that I've shared mine -- do tell! What's in your bag?

As a few of my friends and coworkers have pointed out, I've been on a ladylike kick these days in mid-length skirts and prim longer sleeve blouses (as evidenced here, here and here). There's something refreshing about taking very modest silhouettes and funking them up with a fun bag, monochromatic pairings or a daring shoe choice. And with the holidays now here upon us, it feels quite apropos to don my demure best!
On that note, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend spent with loved ones! I'm currently back in Reno enjoying some much-needed family time to recharge. And, of course, fill up on my fair share of pie -- I wish you the same!

This dress made it's debut earlier this week for the Maison Martin Margiela X H&M press shopping event (where I may or may not have scored the obnoxiously large candy wrapper clutch). The color and full skirt alone definitely made this a crowd favorite at both work and while shopping -- which lead me to gush to just about anyone who woud listen to me about the San Francisco based designer duo behind it, Mina + Olya. Imagine my delight though when I randomly ran into Olya herself at H&M (rocking a totally enviable short curly bob!). So great meeting you, Olya and for those of you who haven't checked out their designs, I highly recommend you start clicking over to here. Think sophisticated separates with a dash of modern retro flare (and all eco-friendly methods and organic fabrics to boot!). I currently have my eye on this dress in forest green and this jacket in cobalt blue. Both would make for great investment pieces to last through the seasons, don't you think?

h&m x mmm silent manifesto

2 minute read
If you happened to be tuning in on Twitter this past Saturday, you might have caught me in action for the H&M X Maison Martin Margiela Silent Manifesto -- right here on the streets of San Francisco! The reason being, of course, to celebrate the much anticipated launch of the MMM capsule collection this week (November 15th, to be exact). What I didn't realize until Saturday though, was that this march was being held all over the world -- Hong Kong, Berlin, Vienna, Toronto, Bucharest -- hundreds of silent marchers swarming the streets, wearing iconic Margiela lab-inspired aprons and toting signs.
Erika and I ran around the Embarcadero, capturing the march along the way, which now, unsurprisingly, has me so excited for Thursday's launch! Do tell, are any of you camping out at your local H&M for the MMM launch? What pieces are on your must-grab list?

Jacket: tba (last seen here); Jeans: c/o James Jeans; Shoes: Louboutin; Hat: Zara (love this color); Bag: Chanel; Sunglasses: Elizabeth & James; Watch: Michael Kors
A few things about this outfit:
1.) I bought this sleeveless jacket a few years back during a random sale at Urban Outfitters and it's just now recently proving to be a major closet MVP. I love how it serves double time as a chic outerwear option but can also be played up as a dress (as seen here). It's made its fair share of appearances in the donation pile -- so glad I decided to hold onto it!
2.) Slowly but surely, I'm accumulating my fair share of boyfriend jeans. This particular pair, by James Jeans, is currently my go-to for polished slouch -- a boyfriend fit that's still tailored well for a woman's body. And as luck would have it, they're now offering TTT readers 25% off their order -- just enter the code JJ019 at checkout.
3.) I'm taking a cue from Alicia and throwing in more knit beanies into the ol' outfit rotation. This boyfriend fit one from Zara is just what I've been looking for to add some grunge to the mix.

Wow -- the past couple of weeks have kicked my butt (but in the best way possible!). Work has been shifting into high gear so to kick off this much-needed weekend, I've partnered with one of my favorite new e-commerce sites, Anthem Wares, for a little giveaway (if you haven't checked out their inventory yet, I highly recommend you do. This Angel Jackson bag is just the beginning, trust me!). The winners, selected at random by the Anthem Wares team, will be receiving a special gift from the AW lineup of artisan designers.
To enter, simply register on their site here. That's it! Easy, peasy. But hurry, you only have until next Friday, November 16 to get your entry in!
And as an extra bonus, the Anthem folks are offering an exclusive discount code for $50 off any order of $200 or more. Just enter "ATOMIC" at checkout.
On another note, as some of you may have heard on Twitter, I'll be teaming up with H&M this Saturday for a special event right here in San Francisco to promote their upcoming Margiela launch next week. I can't reveal too much about the exact details (intrigued yet?), so I'll say this -- tune in Saturday morning as I'll be tweeting and Instagramming on the go.
And for my San Francisco-based readers, you're especially in luck! H&M has two exclusive passes for the pre-shopping event next Tuesday November 13, where yes, you'll be able to skip the crowds and actually shop the Margiela collection (I'm dying to get my hands on this clutch and this dress). To enter, you'll need to tweet at me a picture of our Saturday event (hint, we're starting out in the Mission -- I'll update with an exact location Saturday morning via Twitter) and include the hashtags: #MargielaWithHM #SanFran.
The folks over at H&M will be selecting the two winners at random -- good luck and look forward to seeing some of you out there on Saturday!
