Special thanks to my mom for taking these photos for me -- she's in town for the week and we're doing all the must-see touristy things SF has to offer. This means lots of trolley rides, clam chowder and actually finally touring Alcatraz.

suit up!

2 minute read

Blazer, Zara; Shirt: Gap; Pants: Asos; Suede heels: Charlotte Ronson, via Shopbop; Clutch: Zara

There's something oh so fitting about wearing my pseudo "suit" to work today. After seeing Beth's rendition of the casual day suit, I figured I would try my hand out at it -- after all, I do have an unhealthy amount of blazers and cropped trouser pants (ahem, in many, many colors). Anyone up for an intervention?

summer dreaming

2 minute read

Navy blue cable knit sweater, Forever21, gifted; wool skirt, vintage Christian Dior c/o Market Publique; espadrilles, c/o Sophie Theallet for Nine West; multicolored straw clutch, H&M

What a sweet, summery pair of shoes, no? The lovely folks at Nine West have just recently collaborated with Sophie Theallet (see the collection here) and sent me these espadrilles to style up -- of course, given San Francisco's fickle weather, these will certainly prove handy to summer-ize any outfit, even if it involves a wool skirt like I'm wearing here. Also, I can't wait to sport these while riding my bike to the Mission for some thrift shopping. Yes, I have plans for these shoes. Already!

On a side note -- saw The Kills last night. Has anyone else seen them live? I'm completely blown away by the two of them. Amazing.

sequins/bowling

2 minute read

Sequin shirt, Elizabeth and James; Skinny jeans, Zara; Pointy toe colorblocked heels, Asos; Leather clutch, American Apparel

I am absolutely in love with this shirt. It has the right amount of drape and weight (yes, those are all sequins!) and looks oddly enough like a bowling shirt from behind.

I totally adore bowling and therefore I might have to sport this gorgeous bowling shirt the next time I take a trip to the bowling alley. Bowling is such a fun way to pass the time and is an amazing activity that you can complete with your family and friends, or even as a date.

Although, if you are someone who likes to take their bowling a little more seriously, you might want to invest in some proper bowling shoes. Bowling shoes can make a big difference to your bowl so do not be afraid to try some out for yourself! Not sure where to begin? Tale a look at this useful guide to help you find the perfect pair of bowling shoes: https://skilledbowlers.com/bowling-supplies-equipment/best-bowling-shoes/.

the graduate

2 minute read

Having recently re-watched "The Graduate" again makes me laugh every time I look at the Bay Bridge now. For all of two epic scenes where Dustin Hoffman is driving in his little red convertible to see Elaine, who is studying in Berkeley, he's driving the wrong way on the bridge -- each time to San Francisco, not to Berkeley. Understandably, they didn't want him driving the correct direction, since it would require him to use the lower, covered portion of the bridge, and hence, less epic.

But still. Now you know.

Use that for your next movie trivia night!

(not so) plain white tees

< 1 minute

It's really refreshing when you can grab something as staple as a plain white tee and pair it with a bright skirt or funky print -- and be done! I've been loving the resurgence of this seemingly simple styling trick (thanks to Jil Sander S/S 2011) and can't seem to stop! Have you guys been trying it out lately?

flea market best

2 minute read

Wore this to the Alameda Flea Market this past Sunday -- so if it looks like I'm a bit sunburnt in these photos, it's because I am! Picked up a lot of great little oddities and old gold frames for my wall of frames -- perhaps I'll do an apartment post when I'm finally proud of my little studio! About a year later and I'm almost there! Decorating for me takes an unbelievable amount of time. What can I say? I'm a bit indecisive.

all business

2 minute read

I built this outfit primarily around these shoes, which were a total impulse buy at All Saints last week. I've been envying this pair of Isabel Marants on everyone lately, so when I spotted this pair of equally two-toned neutral heels, I knew I had to have them. All buyer's remorse when out the window when I was comfortable walking around (up and down hills) in SF -- double points!

How was your weekend? Lots of good sunshine like we had here?

into the wide open

< 1 minute

I love me a good Tom Petty reference every once in a while, don't you? (Side note: Check out that vintage Johnny Depp!)

These pants, clearly very wide, were the comfiest thing for a rather jam packed Wednesday. I love that they're almost indistinguishable from a long maxi skirt, unless I kick my leg up really high (I omitted those photos from this post -- my better judgment got the best of me).

Happy Wednesday!

I remember spotting this exact shirt on Hanneli last summer and have been lusting after it ever since. Can't wait to wear it for nice brisk spring days walking around San Francisco.

On a side note, my dear friend Christine of My Style Pill, did a fun little webisode with The Shops at Columbus Circle, shopping and doing what she does best -- styling! Check it out here!

Style Remix: Bold Stripes

2 minute read

You know we had to do it -- yep, my dear friend and remixer extraordinaire, Christine of My Style Pill and I are at it again for another remix. This time, we had our sights set on this little bold stripe number, mine from Zara and hers from H&M.

Since you've seen me wear this shirt before with somewhat of a bold color -- I figured why not continue the momentum? I picked up these Spring 2011 Milly pants over the weekend at a small boutique before a hike with the boyfriend (surprisingly, he LOVED the pants, I was convinced they would be a tad too 'man repelling' for him).

I fell in love with the bold pattern and thought some pattern mixing and saturated colors would do me some Prada good. All in all, it was hard not to smile in this outfit!

Now scoot over to see Christine's outfit -- I know I am!

A huge thank you is in order to the incredibly sweet Pamela of Market Publique. She happened to remember me envying her skirt at at an IFB conference last year and sent it on over recently as a little surprise.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Will have to do a remix of some sort with this sheer white skirt -- just so many outfits I want to wear with it!

In other events, have you guys checked out bspoke yet? Bspoke, the official blog for Boutiques.com, is where I spend my time blogging when I'm not blogging here -- trend reports, designer interviews and all in all, a good time. It would mean a great deal to me if you were to check out some of my favorite posts, including where I interviewed Anna Wintour here, Hamish Bowles here and Andy of the blog, Style Scrapbook, here.

Hope you enjoy!

why so blue?

Lately, I've had a bit of a color crush if you will, on shades of blue: electric in particular (outfit post coming soon) but this calming muted cobalt blue is doing just the trick for me! The colorblocked black along the sides and the fact that it's unbelievably soft made for a fitting outfit on a rather gloomy Sunday.

Plus, I just had to throw in the vibrant fuschia lip color in!

You lovelies have seen my attempt at all things bright and jewel toned not too long ago and you know what? I think I'm gonna keep at it! After a full season of neutrals, I think some starbursts of color are just what my closet needs right now. The more saturated and in full technicolor, the better!

Luckily, one of my latest sponsors has been stocked full of just what I need. Radioactive orange? Check! Banana yellow? Got it! Hot haute pink? Lulu's has just what you need for this season's biggest trend. Above, here are some of my favorites that I'll be hitting "submit order" soon enough for!

70s flower child

2 minute read

Shearling, shearling, shearling! I saw so much shearling while out in NYC, which made me long for this jacket that I left at home -- picture the dilemma: I already had three fur coats PACKED and SMOOSHED (spelling?) in my one suitcase, with me sitting on top of it, carefully trying not to catch the fur in the zipper, huffing and puffing all the time.

So, basically any jacket that didn't look like it would suffice in a blizzard, I left at home. Alas, this shearling lined beauty is perfect for San Francisco weather and cozy to boot! Plus, I have some maxi dresses that it would be perfect with!
