When I find a good dress, like this one, I can't stop reaching for it. Especially when it goes from Outside Lands to the office seamlessly (just make sure to leave the flower crown at home when you head to work), I know it's a real keeper.
On that note, keeping it short today -- running off to enjoy the sun in Jamaica but you can always follow along right here on Instagram.

vancouver city guide {real style, real travels}

5 minute read
There's nothing I love more about summer than making up excuses to pack up my bags and catch a flight somewhere. The more packed I can make my weekends, either with day-trips out to Napa or dusting off the passport to head out of the country, the more balanced I feel when I finally do touch back down in SF. Summer break forever, right?
Part of what makes traveling so special to me is pushing myself to really picture my life there. What stores would I haunt with my friends? Where would we go on weekends? What coffee shop would I work from on Saturday mornings? And really, what would I wear on, let's say, a date night out? So of course, packing for the destination becomes almost as important as the actual planning for it. Above all, I want to make sure I feel comfortable and ready to explore, but also, I love evoking the idea of what this new version of me would wear, if I were actually a local from the area.
It's with that in mind, this summer, I'm really excited to partner with one of my favorite authenticated designer consignment sites, The RealReal (I've raved about them numerous times, most recently here) to help my ever growing packing list for a few upcoming trips. Let's just say when The RealReal warehouse becomes your extended closet -- you start grabbing and fast!
Wore this Proenza Schouler number out for a rooftop dinner. Loved how warm their evenings were!

Up first on the destination list?
As you may have spied on Instagram last week, I had the chance to visit Vancouver and explore up north a bit for a new cashmere line launch, Kit & Ace (more on that to come later this week!). While I've been to Canada a handful of times (random fact: I'm half Canuck), I've never had a chance to really roam around and experience some of the local fare.
Luckily, packing was pretty easy this time around -- Vancouver could practically be San Francisco's sister city (same downtown vibe, same art/culture scene, same outdoorsy affinity) so packing was a breeze. It's such a picturesque and fun city to explore and discover. We came across homes for sale Eddie Yan and I can completely see why people would want to move here. I must admit, I'm tempted to myself! Here's a rundown of what I did, saw, ate and shopped...Enjoy!
STAY
Loden Hotel: A modern, chic hotel located just a stone's throw from the ocean front and a short walk to Gastown -- brimming with cute boutiques and coffee shops. I loved the Loden for a number of reasons, mainly including the beyond adorable restaurant downstairs, Tableau, and their enormous bath tubs.
PLAY
Granville Island: Super bustling farmer's market island just under the Granville Bridge (about a 15 minute water taxi ride from downtown). We stopped for brunch along the water and then browsed around from vendor to vendor.
Stanley Park: Think Central Park, but bigger and wrapping along the coast. Best way to explore it? Bike it and head over to the Lions Gate Bridge (Golden Gate's sister bridge).
Seaplane Tour: Hands down, one of the most breathtaking ways to take in all the views of the city and surrounding mountain + waterscapes. I really wanted to head up to Whistler and Victoria but didn't have enough time. Next visit!
Celebration of Light: Over the summer, Vancouver hosts an international fireworks competition at English Bay. Get there early! Nearly 400,000 spectators come out to enjoy the show.
SHOP
Kit & Ace: From a few of the same folks who brought you Lululemon -- seriously luxe, but wearable and washable cashmere blend basics. More on them to come, but be sure to stop by their new store location on Water Street and check out their recently launched ecommerce site here.
Secret Location: Not quite so secret as the name would imply but I did leave wishing there were more stores like this! Vika Gazinskaya, Ostwald Helgason, Rochas. Olympia Le-Tan. So good.
Holt Renfrew: While this is a department store and I normally try to steer clear of these while on vacation, their sale discounts were just too good to pass on. These Diors joined me on my return flight home.
Roden Gray: This is actually a menswear shop but they had me hooked with their Givenchy printed sweaters in the window.
EAT & DRINK
The Flying Pig: Elevated comfort food. We had their lobster and prawn risotto, crispy Brussels sprouts and cheesy bread. I highly recommend you sit outside and take in some of the people watching on the patio.
Smart Mouth Coffee: This was my home base for a few afternoons when I had to get work done. I love coffee shops that just feel like someone's living room and this place fits the bill.
Revolver Coffee: Serious coffee ahead! I had their iced coffee brew on a particularly hot day and it hit the spot.
Medina Cafe: Waffles + lavender chocolate + maple syrup. I'm going to let that marinate a bit.
3 Acres: Apparently, I was on a risotto kick this trip because I had the truffle risotto here plus a French 75. But my favorite would have to be the gorgonzola hot pot. Pretty much ate the whole plate myself.
Head over to The RealReal blog, RealStyle for more photos! And make sure to stay tuned for our next installment....where I'll be heading somewhere very warm. Any guesses?
This post was in partnership with The RealReal. As always, all opinions and styling are my own. Thank you for supporting posts that keep This Time Tomorrow's doors open.

It's no secret -- I love me a good statement piece and this skirt is quickly becoming a fun go-to for evenings out here in Vancouver. It has the greatest kick flare movement when you walk (think flamenco-esque) that puts the perfect amount of dance in your step.
Have a few more days up north to explore -- if you have any recommendations for the area, please send them my way! We're considering heading up to Whistler at some point tomorrow, mainly because I want top hop on a seaplane but would love to hear your suggestions! 🙂

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm currently up north in Vancouver and can't wait to really explore the city this weekend. So much of this (not-so-little) waterfront town reminds me of San Francisco, from the quaint neighborhood pockets and bike culture to the overall laid back vibe (I mean, West Coast is West Coast, right?) -- so naturally, I think we'll be getting along just great over the next few days.
What's up north, you ask? I'm here celebrating the launch of a new technical inspired cashmere line Kit & Ace, brought to you by a few of the same folks behind Lululemon. I've already met a lot of the creative and founding team last night and love their energy, their passion and, most of all, their commitment to quality. Oh, and it certainly doesn't hurt that their welcome present yesterday happened to include hydrangeas. #GameOver. Stay tuned for more -- but of course, you can always follow along right here on Instagram.

the reunion

2 minute read
Dress: Alexander McQueen (a few seasons old, similar style here); Shoes: Valentino; Clutch: Vintage; Sunglasses: Target; Watch: Daniel Wellington; Bracelet: Gorjana; Ring: Jennifer Zeuner
As I mentioned last week, I headed back home to Reno this weekend for my 10 year high school reunion (10 years -- I still can't wrap my head around that!). While I really had no idea what to expect for the evening, I did know I was dying to wear this pearl embellished, fits-like-a-glove McQueen dress I recently picked up on sale at Jeremy's a few weeks back. Combined with a little stud action on the shoes, I felt very me in a slightly demure meets edgy kind of way.
As for the reunion? It's funny, so many different scenes featuring a certain Romy and a certain Michele played out in my head while driving into town. Maybe everyone will hang out in cliques? Maybe unrequited crushes will have a second chance? Maybe someone actually did invent Post Its (or the figurative equivalent). But really, it wasn't quite like any of that at all -- and I mean that in the best way possible. It was great catching up with so many old friends, teammates, confidants, and yes, perhaps an old crush or two, and seeing where the last ten years have taken them. While so much has changed, in a weird way, it felt like we kind of picked up where we left off.
Although, yes, I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was slightly disappointed there weren't any dance numbers quite like this. Maybe at the 20 year reunion? 😉

Growing up, I really bounced around the style spectrum a lot (as any kid should). Belle was my muse in the first grade, then there was the tie-dye phase in middle school (i.e. the lost years) and high school was all about sporty Abercrombie basics (with low-rise distressed jeans, naturally) . Given that my 10 year high school reunion is just around the corner, er, later this week, I thought it would be fun to take the tomboy basics of something I used to wear and turn it on its head with layered gold accessories, heels, peek-a-boo lace and a bold, red lip.
Confession time: What was your style like in high school?

I feel like it wasn't all too long ago I was happily belting my dresses whenever I got the chance to cinch my waist in. And now, for some reason or another my belt collection has slowly dwindled to this lonely Moschino survivor (that I nabbed at a flea market, no less!). Not that I'm complaining. He goes quite nicely with skinny jeans as he does flowy chiffon-like dresses, but I do think a few other belt contenders are in order. Here are a few I'm considering pulling the trigger for (with their flowy dress counterparts, of course)...

It's quite possible I'm approaching an almost embarrassing collection of these Valentino rockstud heels now. The reasoning for these? Well, aside from the fact they look like modern day ruby red slippers, they were also crazy on sale at my haunt, Jeremy's, this past weekend and a few happy hour drinks had me thinking it was the right decision. My sober self happily agrees.

If you've been reading this blog for a while now, you know I typically shy away from anything too form fitting. Not sure what's to blame there, but it usually boils down to wanting to avoid pulling or tugging at my clothing to make it sit just right on me throughout the day. However, when life throws you a Josh Goot bustier like this guy (I mean, hello bell curve!), sometimes you have to take a few pages from TTH's book and just go for it.
Which reminds me, I now need a high slit, pencil skirt, like the one in the aforementioned link. Any leads?

It's been a while since this skirt has come out to play but luckily, a little closet reorganization (and RealReal consignment spree) goes a long way in making you look at your wardrobe a bit differently. In fact, I think it's high time I made this a seasonal habit -- especially when it's easy to fall into the slump of "I have nothing to wear" (which trust me, happens around here a lot), it's great to feel energized again by what you have, instead of lamenting over what you don't have.
Of course, that doesn't stop me from lusting over this dress (I'm only human, after all). It just means I weigh some of my other shopping cravings a bit differently. Ah, getting wiser in my old age, perhaps? 😉
On a side note, how adorable is this house?! It's my new favorite in San Francisco.

I think it's safe to say that I've been living in these cut off shorts since the Fourth. And, perhaps you'll agree with me, once these guys get in the summer rotation, they're really hard to resist. Like really difficult. Granted, while they do hover around the "Daisy Duke" territory, I rather like them paired with crisp basics like a silk button front shirt and a sharp blazer (bonus points for a little peek-a-boo lace action).
How have you guys been styling your cut off shorts? More casual or dressing it up a bit?

I went through a phase in college where I loved gaucho pants (and usually of the jersey knit variety -- yes, I know, I know, no judgement, OK?). But since we're all about second chances around here (hello, Birkenstocks!), I have to admit I'm all about this wide leg cropped pant thing going on now. Granted, they're harder to pull off for someone around 5'4" (5'5" on a good day, mind you) but that's where cropped tops come in beautifully. I threw on a white blazer later on in the evening once it got cooler and instantly felt a tad bit Annie Hall chic (and Diane Keaton can do no wrong in my book).

This outfit is something I'd probably joke with my coworkers about as being incredibly video conference friendly. Business up top, beyond casual on bottom (and no one in your meeting has to be the wiser of it!). Speaking of beyond casual, these Birkenstocks and I are getting along swimmingly at the moment. Albeit, I do feel like I'm kinda wearing mini boats on my feet and have gotten my fair share of the"Oh, Birkenstocks? intermix palo alto + google gals

3 minute read
A few weeks back, right before I left for London, the Intermix team invited myself and a few of my other stylish coworkers to break in their new Palo Alto store. In true Silicon Valley fashion, we stopped by before all of our meetings for the day (read: EARLY), coffee in hand and explored the store before opening hours. Let's just state the obvious here and say, more work days should really start with a little retail therapy.
You can see more photos and read our little Q&A here on the Intermix blog. And if you're in the area, do stop by their new Palo Alto store in the Town & Country Village. Thanks again for having us, Intermix -- we'll be back again very soon! (Especially, because I think I NEED that gray IRO jacket in my life.)
The entire store was ours. OURS. Muhahaha.
Trying on new shades for summer, with my incredibly cute pregnant coworker, Irene (check out her blog here!).
I eventually talked Laura, our marketing guru for Google Shopping Express, into trying a pair of overalls on. And while she won't admit it, I think she kinda liked it. 😉
Regretting not getting this Nicholas crop top and skirt combo.
The grey IRO jacket that will forever haunt my dreams. Debating if I should go back and scoop it up...
How cute is she?!

After living out of a suitcase for the past several weeks on and off again, it feels so nice to be back home. Of course, I can't complain, especially after getting a much-needed tan while down in Palm Springs this past weekend (Seriously, 100+ degree heat? I'll take it!) I'm in the midst of sorting through all of my photos, both from London and our trip down south, so stay tuned this week for some serious wanderlust recaps.
As for this outfit, I wore this for one of my last full days putzing around London. My new friend (and talented photographer to boot!), Nancy and I shopped around Portobello Road Market, admiring vintage tea seats and old Beatles records before (quite appropriately) hopping over to the infamous Abbey Road crossing. Unfortunately, we were one of many folks there (tip: get there SUPER early in the day because it's still a busy traffic intersection) so most of my snaps have a ton of other people and cars in them. BUT, I still had that "pinch me" feeling while I was there. How could you not?

The world really is a small place when you think about it.
Case in point? Before heading out for London last week, I received an invite to a presentation with London-based designer, Brooke Roberts at the Battery Club here in San Francisco. The presentation was literally the night before I flew out, which as you might guess, meant I had lots of packing left to do, but I loved the idea of meeting a London-based creative before hopping over the pond. Plus, her story absolutely hooked me -- a radiographer by profession turned knitwear designer, using actual MRI brain scans as the basis for her print work. I mean, talk about trailblazing your own path!
Naturally, I loved getting a glimpse into her design process and seeing her work up close but unfortunately, had to duck out before getting a chance to really introduce myself. Fast forward to later that week and both Brooke and her fiancé invited me out for a night of dinner and drinks around London, chatting about her design work, jobs we've liked (and didn't like so much) and who serves up the best burgers in town (Meat Market for the win!). It was one of those evenings that was completely unplanned and spontaneous and I loved it.
Oh and, of course, when she asked me if I wanted to style a few of her A/W pieces, I (happily) jumped at the opportunity. I'm just bummed I didn't have time to also take this dress for a test drive. Reason to visit again soon perhaps, Brooke?

When it comes to packing for trips, I don't have many rules or helpful tips (as I mentioned here, I usually fly by the seat of my pants when getting my suitcase together). I do, however, have one strong suggestion though that I always try to abide by: pack one outfit for the theater. Odds are, you won't regret it because even if you don't snag tickets, it's never a bad idea to dress up a little extra special for your last night in town.
I wore this particular dress for Kevin Spacey's performance in Clarance Darrow at The Old Vic. If you're in London, I highly recommend!

You've all touched my life in some way that I'll never ever really be able to describe.  I'm just glad we could all go on this wild little ride together.
On a lighter and more relevant to this outfit note, this dress is going down as one of the best sale finds of all time. I'm currently drafting a London guide (which by no means is meant to be comprehensive as I've only just started to scratch the surface here) and while I haven't done a ton of actual shopping (that exchange rate KILLS ME), I did stumble upon the gold mine that is Joseph's Outlet store on Kings Road. What a whirlwind of a trip! It's only been 3 days in London so far and I'm already blown away by the vibe, the people and just how historic every corner I turn feels. I've checked a few of the obvious must-dos off the list thus far, like Big Ben here and the London Eye nearby but what I'm really looking forward to is digging into all of your recommendations for little haunts and hole in the wall gems. bermuda triangle

Blazer: Helmut Lang; Shirt: Equipment; Shorts: Altuzarra (via The RealReal); Shoes: Zara; Sunglasses: Coach; Wallet: Proenza Schouler
I'm not sure about the fashion crazes you went through during middle school, but surf-inspired brands like Roxy and Quiksilver were king. Rather ironic when you think about it, given we happened to live in a pretty landlocked state with the nearest ocean shore being hundreds of miles away (um ya, hi Nevada!) but hey, sometimes trends don't make that much sense, or at all. I particularly remember going to Pac Sun on the weekends with whatever parent was willing to listen to me beg for another surf tee or on one particular instance, a pair of printed Roxy bermuda shorts. And man, did I love those bermuda shorts. Poppy red with Hawaiian flowers printed all over them.
Fast forward a few (or a lot) of years and I'm giving this whole bermuda short thing another go. In my opinion, I have a few extra things working in my favor here: 1. strappy heels for a little more city chic and a little less boardwalk 2. a tailored blazer to elevate it and 3. I'm a lot closer to the ocean now.

the wedding guests

As I mentioned in a few posts back now, we have quite the summer lineup of weddings, bridal showers, baby showers (the list goes on) that I've been on the lookout for several dress options that can carry me through the busy months ahead. What I love most about this matching set from Honor is that it's totally something I would scoop up regardless if I had an occasion for it or not. For wedding attire, that's a win, win in my book.
The length of this skirt feels very "me" and, well, y'all know I can't resist a good crop top. Plus, how perfect is this outfit with this Southern-style wrap around porch?! All I'm missing is my tall glass of sweet tea.

fields of gold

We escaped the city this past weekend for a wedding up north and decided to take a very meandering route back home afterward. From ocean views along Highway 1 to sprawling fields of gold, like this one, it was definitely a feast for the eyes (and one we need to repeat more often). While my wanderlust is definitely in full swing this week (hello, London, in T-minus 3 days), it's weekends like this past one that ultimately make me so homesick.
How was your long weekend? I hope you ventured out and got lost (even for just an afternoon!).

grey gardens

I'm slowly embracing the fact that I'm just more comfortable in neutral colors, namely black and white. While I've never shied away from wearing black and white looks here on the blog (heck, I sport it here pretty often), I tend to feel, well, somewhat guilty when I do. Something about defaulting to a uniform set of colors used to feel like I was cheating almost (they are a pretty fool-proof color combo after all). What I've come to realize though is that my closet, particularly after cleaning it out a few weeks ago, is slowly streamlining itself into pieces that I truly love and get excited about wearing (and yes, they are primarily a range of blacks and whites). Guilty as charged.
But so what? As someone who's definitely bought (and still buys) into fleeting trends from time to time, it's a refreshing feeling to walk into my closet feeling inspired by what I see. That can be a simple black silk blouse (like this one from Everlane that I also have in white, obvi) or this funky, mesh panel black and white tropical floral skirt. Furthermore, that's what some colorful accessories are for, right? Ahem, I'm looking at these bad boys in particular.
