Like many of you perhaps, I'm skipping my usual holiday travel plans this year.
While it pains my heart to know I won't be able to see my family in person, I know it's a sacrifice in the best interest of everyone's safety, especially for my parents. Of course, family time is a large part of the season's warmth and festivities -- and I'm so happy to share with you all today, the many ways AirBnB is capturing that magic, even if we can't be physically together for it. Keep reading for lots of great gift ideas, experiences for the whole family to enjoy and even a ticket to meet Santa, himself! Best part? None of this requires shipping, so your gift will arrive right on time!
Online holiday experiences: If you're looking for activities to entertain this season -- to connect with loved ones near and far -- AirBnB has a wide array of online experiences you can book for the whole family to enjoy together! From cooking, to decorating, from virtual tours of far off cities to musical concerts, here are a few of my favorites:
- Harry Potter Magic in Edinbourgh Tour
- Christmas and secrets with drag queens
- Sing holiday songs with a Broadway star
- Hidden jazz club
- Pasta making class with two Italian grandmothers
- Italian spiced wines of the past with an archeologist
- Make Japanese souffle pancakes at home
- Learn how to saber a bottle of champagne
- Moroccan cooking and baking class
- A virtual tour of Paris with a Parisian
- A virtual visit to an animal sanctuary
- Positive thinking with a Paralympic hero

Gift ideas with AirBnB: Still looking for the perfect gifts for folks on your list? Keep in mind, you can gift all online experiences on site as well as credit for your loves ones to book staycations of their own! I'm currently eyeing this guided meditation with sleepy sheep class (yep, you read that right!) for my mom and this classic piano concert from Vienna for my dad. As for site credit, I'll be putting together an upcoming blog post of all my favorite cozy cabins, both in the New England area and around the US to hopefully spark some ideas for a future stay of yours (or for a loved one!).
Meet the Big Man in Red himself: While Santa hasn't been able to visit as many malls this year as he would have liked, the AirBnB team tapped him to join a number of online experiences to help spread the holiday cheer, far and wide, all from the comfort of your home (and his at the North Pole!). Here are a few of my favorites:
- Mama Claus holiday joy
- Holiday sign language vocabulary games
- Meet Santa Claus in Lapland, Finland
- Santa storytime with an award-winning author
