Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away.

At this point, I've visited the recently reopened TWA terminal more times than I would like to admit (see here, here and here as evidence), but when it came to the final scenes of our Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series, I knew we just had to come out here again. You may recall all Season 3 promotional shots were done by the one and only Annie Leibovitz, shot on location at the TWA Hotel. And given that much of the season, Midge and Susie are jetting off to Vegas and Miami for the tour with Shy Baldwin, it only seemed right to capture the long gone glamour of 1960s travel, with a Maisel spin of course.

The funny thing about visiting the TWA Hotel, is that each time I do, I inevitably meet someone who used to either work for TWA or Pan Am or fly with them regularly -- pilots sometimes, some flight attendants and a lot of former passengers -- and I love hearing their stories in passing. Usually about what it used to feel like arriving at the airport, the buzz of everyone scurrying to their respective gates, dressed to the nines. Men in suits, women in their finest dresses and smart hats. And while the practicality of that today seems a bit farfetched, I have to say, doesn't it sound positively marvelous? Bidding adieu to your city looking your best and arriving somewhere new, looking ready for adventure?

If you're looking to add a bit of travel glamour to your holidays this year, I put together a little soundtrack to help inspire your packing. Chances are, none of us will have as many midi dresses as Midge to pack along with us, but at least we can listen to something that will make us want to twirl, nonetheless. Happy packing and safe travels!
