Sometimes you have an occasion -- and you get a dress.

Other times, a dress finds you first. And you look for the occasion. Being in the industry I am, I often find myself in the latter camp (which I'm certainly not complaining about) and it's made for some incredible, spur of the moment plans, where the dress literally inspired the evening.

This beautiful Jovani number is one of those particular dresses. I'm relatively new to the brand, but had a chance to swing by their showroom a few weeks ago for a fitting and subsequently fell in love with the romance of the entire collection (which you can spy here). The drama. The tulle. The embroidery. And, of course, once I tried this midi-length, Funny Face-inspired gown, I was completely smitten. All of which, of course, begged the inevitable question: where to wear this?

And that my dear friends, is exactly the game we're going to play today: if you had 3 dream date wishes, where would they take you? A companion is optional. But a fabulous dress is a must. I'll spill first -- then I want to hear about yours in the comments below!

  1. An evening stroll through the Met (they close at 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays folks!) to see the Public Parks, Private Gardens of Paris to Provence exhibit before heading to dinner at The Plaza. Evening drinks, naturally, would need to be back down in the village -- and I'm absolutely dying to try Chumley's still. Word on the street is that Fitzgerald used to drink there!
  2. Tickets for two to see the Dobyns-Bennett High School Band and Orchestra perform an evening of Irish music at Carnegie Hall in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Admittedly, I've only been to Carnegie Hall once but the magic of the concert hall has stayed with me since -- it's humbling and awe-inspiring, not to mention the perfect venue to wear a twirl-worthy dress fitting for a Celtic-inspired jig!
  3. A Saturday night showing of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child followed by a burger at Shake Shack. Because where else can you enjoy world class theatre AND a world class burger, within a several block radius of each other? Only in New York, folks. Only in New York.

Now your turn! Spill your dream date plans and do share what you plan to wear. And for everyone who happened to ask on Insta Stories when I first shared this dress, you can shop the Jovani collection online and in store at Neiman Marcus, Harrods and now at their new flagship store in Beverly Hills. Personally, I was so excited to see the full range of the collection -- from dramatic red carpet gowns to bridal, from cocktail to black tie chic, so I think you'll find there's a bit of something for everyone. Happy shopping!
