Since posting this tutorial a few months back, I've been fine-tuning my process here and there to better fit my morning routine. Here are a few of my favorite products that I've picked up along the way.
From left to right:
1.) Organix Moroccan Argan Oil: Seeing as how I prefer a wavy or curly finished coif, my hair takes quite the beating Monday through Friday from constant styling heat. I recently started using this Moroccan oil (meant for dry/coarse hair like mine), applying it throughout wet, right-out-of-the-shower hair and am already loving how noticeably soft it leaves my hair.
2.) Organix Shine Finishing Spray: Before heading out the door to work, I spritz this finishing spray all over for a little extra sheen (doesn't hurt that it smells great too!).
3.) Paul Mitchell Ultimate Wave Beachy Texture Cream-Gel (not online but find a salon here): As mentioned here in this post, I've been incorporating this texturizing cream more and more into my daily routine. In lieu of blow drying, I'll towel dry my hair and scrunch a small amount throughout. Once dry, I'll go back through and emphasize a few waves by curling some of the top layers with a 1" barrel curling iron. This is my fool-proof routine when I have early morning meetings -- significantly faster!
4.) Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder: During my last trip to New York, I finally had a chance to visit Arrojo salon for a pre-FNO styling pick-me-up. My stylist for the day, Erin, not only curled my hair just how I like it (thank you again!), but she also let me in on a little styling secret that I've been hooked on since. When styling locks for a long evening out, spritz dry shampoo under several layered sections of your hair at the roots. This will give your hair extra oomph and prevent it from falling flat as the evening progresses.
What products do you swear by, especially if you curl your hair often like me? And while we're confessing products, don't forget to share your own curl confessions here on Paul Mitchell's Facebook page.
