view from a sunday

2 minute read

In stark contrast to the other day's field of yellow flowers, today's a bit rainy and gray. And in all honesty, I kind of prefer days like this. Gives you an excuse to stay inside, make some cookies, eat some soup and leisurely watch movies (while simultaneously working at the same time). And that is exactly what I intend to do today.

I know I promised an apartment post, but this view from my (bay!) windows will have to do in the interim as I'm STILL organizing the closet.

Hope you're all having a relaxing Sunday!

ModCloth Spring Fever Blogger Challenge!

2 minute read

Hey guys! Yes, I am alive. Alive and well, albeit a bit sleep deprived from moving at odd hours of the night.

To make up for my absence, I do have some exciting news to share. ModCloth has launched a Spring Fever Blogger Challenge and yours truly has been invited to join. Each Monday of this month, I'll be posting a different item from their new Spring collection to be showcased alongside some other lovely ladies (Oh hey, Keiko, Tieka, Aya!) on the ModCloth blog with you readers to vote on your favorite of the four!

And to kick things off, I give you this darling Ivory Symphony Skirt, tiered and everything! I wanted to play with the proportions of the mini skirt and wear a looser fitting kick-back sweater and some cage heels, which ending up being perfect for a slightly overcast day in the Bay Area.

Want to vote? Want to check out the other ladies? Want me to stop asking rhetorical questions? OK, fine, fine, but before I go, if you want to vote for your favorite look, go here.

summer games

2 minute read

So if you've been reading this blog since Day 1 (let's face it, no one was reading it back then, including myself) you might recall that this time last year, I was preparing for an epic weekend of Coachella madness. My friend Cortney and I braved the long car ride from Reno, camped for the whole weekend and I ended up getting a second degree burn due to my sunscreen stubbornness. All in the name of Sir Paul McCartney and Leonard Cohen.

It's weird to think that was only a year ago. Needless to say, much has changed since then and needless to say, after tomorrow's rent check gets made out, I'm not in the same financial situation to attend.

That's why I bring you my "I wish I was going to Coachella" collection, via one of my lovely sponsors Shopbop and their featured L.A. designer, Of Two Minds. All the lacey, flowy shapes make me wish for those open polo fields and a weekend of no cares. Oh, and sandals and braids and flowers. Yes. That's a lot of hippie/indie.

And to top that off, I'm listening to Coachella playlists, courtesy of my friend Clay and his musical tease of a blog.

Now, back to packing my entire closet. No outfit post when your life is in bags, folks.

deeeeeelightful update

< 1 minute

Yep. This dress is getting a lot of mileage, wouldn't you agree? I just love seeing it so many ways -- dress, top and my favorite, Ms. Elizabeth's super cute little number that I might have to steal. Soon.

Big thanks to ModCloth for The Dynamite Dress and do be sure to check out the other fashionably lovely bloggers here on Facebook.

Now, it's time for me to pack my life into garbage bags and move. Again. I'm like a nomad these days. A nomad with 13 plus bags of clothes and shoes to carry. On the upside, I love my new apartment and couldn't have done it without the great help from you, dear readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

off day

< 1 minute

In light of yesterday's post about the short comings (ha) of short dresses, I decided to have a casual Friday. Skinny jeans. Loose blouse. Small heels. It fit the bill for a slightly more laid back day at work. As for tomorrow, I'm thinking the same thing will be in order as I'll be cruising around the city, apartment hunting. I think I pretty much have my neighborhoods narrowed down so thanks again for all the wonderful suggestions! It helped tremendously!

Bay windows, here I come!

Whew, this week has been packed with little dresses and body con fits, huh? Makes me want to jump into bed in some of my laziest, coziest and comfiest layers and eat ice cream. Er, or perhaps it should make me want to do the opposite? Not sure. Actually, who am I kidding? I want ice cream. Right now.

delightful, ain’t it?

2 minute read

Ah, my first Delightful Dozen post. Some of you may remember when I first blogged about joining up with 11 lovely ladies for a nation-wide clothing swap. Yeah, then I moved and promptly slacked at staying in the loop (sorry, ladies! I swear, I'm alive. Promise!) And to prove that I am indeed alive and kicking (in high heels nonetheless) here's the official Delightful Dozen dress, courtesy of ModCloth.

This tiered summer dress, better known as The Dynamite Dress, has the prettiest digital/floral/starburst/tribal/I don't know what print in some awesome shades of coral and pink. It's a tad short, yes, which I awkwardly dealt with on a windy photo session, but I dig it just the same.

Want to see how the other ladies style it up? Check back on Friday for ModCloth's round up blog post.

And on an unrelated note, is anyone else planning on heading to the first Fashion Meets Tech event in San Francisco tomorrow? It's being held in downtown SF to bring together like-minded folk in the fashion and technology realms. Interested? Shoot me an e-mail, let's chat! I'd love to see you there!

cherry tomato in spring

2 minute read

There's something about the color of this dress that induces the phrase: "Oh, it feels like spring today." Warm cherry tomato red, which admittedly I don't wear very often, but whenever I do, I feel like I should wear it everyday, all the time. Live in it, even.

As for other matters, thanks for all the San Francisco apartment tips! I really, truly appreciate all your help. I'm still on the hunt, but the neighborhood suggestions help tremendously. I'm no stranger to the SF area, but don't have a good grasp of the "vibe" so to speak of different parts. Instead, I tend to just be sold on the first cute photo of bay windows I see on Craigslist. Probably not the most practical criteria, but hey, I've always wanted bay windows.

So in other words, keep the suggestions coming! Oh, and happy spring, albeit, a bit belated.

flowers in your hair…

< 1 minute

So yet again, I'm turning to you dear readers. Krystal needs an apartment in San Francisco. Like by the end of this month. Nine days. NINE DAYS. Eeek. Any neighborhood suggestions/tips/advice/possible roommate leads would be much, much appreciated. Thus far, my co-worker has suggested Mission Dolores as a good fit for my personal style. I would love to live by Golden Gate Park, but am open to most (somewhat nice) areas. I do have to commute everyday to work though, so somewhat painless access to the 101 would be awesome too, but not a complete deal breaker.

Thanks guys! You're the best!

la in the bay

2 minute read

Truth be told, I don't know why I don't do more weekend posts. More often than not, I have way more time to get ready and actually feel bright eyed for photos after sleeping in a bit. This particular dress I got at a new vintage haunt of mine, Held Over in San Fran on Haight. The whole secretary cut of it with a wide brim panama hat feels oh so right for a day of shopping on Market Street and driving on 101 with both windows downnnnnn…

And check out the necklace guys. Made out of recycled bullet shells, how cool is that? I was contacted a while back by LA-based Courtney of Dolly and Boy jewelry, who was so sweet to send me this feather necklace. Do check out her stuff, there's a ship helm charm that I'm eyeing right now....

friday’s random thought list

2 minute read

OK, really only two items on the list, so I'm not sure if it qualifies as a legitimate order of business, but here goes nothing:

1.) I'm actually looking forward to going to the movies by myself tonight. Yes. I said it. Has anyone else see the episode of Friends where Rachael learns to eat lunch by herself and enjoys it? That's how I'm feeling right now. Social norms be damned (on a Friday, date night mind you!) I'm looking forward to it! Big popcorn to myself. Big soda to myself. And, my favorite part, the only person I have to consult as to what movie to see, is myself.

Although that last part might be hard to narrow down. It's between "The Runaways" and "Remember Me," which is altogether really surprising as all three main actors in the two movies made for horrible co-stars in a horribly comical movie that shall remain unnamed. (I hope I didn't offend too may "Twilight" fans out there, damn, I said it). In my defense, a.) Robert Pattinson is yummy and I think he might actually be a decent actor (but when you're that yummy, who cares?) and b.) I could use a decent rock and roll, drug addiction story line today.

Tough, tough choice.

2.) I got flowers at work today. Sorry. Just had to gloat a little. They're beautiful orchids and have brightened up our little corner at work tremendously. To the person who sent them, thank you! You've put a big smile on my face and given me bragging rights for the day. Although I don't think you read this blog, so I'll send you a text right now…as I head out the door. To the movies, I go!

Happy Friday, everyone!

So after stalking this wool, short sleeve beauty of a coat for weeks on ModCloth, I can finally call it mine! Aptly called the Editor in Chic Coat, my only regret is that I didn't get it earlier as spring weather has comfortably set in, leaving me in a typical dilemma of mine: not appropriately dressing for the weather.

Oh well. Good thing it has short sleeves, right? I'm thinking maybe Editor in Chic dress soon, eh?

Clogs, yes clogs.

2 minute read

I went to San Fran yesterday to grab lunch with a friend and check out some new releases at Amoeba. There's something about hanging out on Haight Street that always puts me in a good mood. I think it's the characters there. And the fact that drugs are offered on every corner, while the cops concern themselves more with the shoddy parking jobs. Gotta love California.

Here's my entirely jean outfit with (yes!) clogs. A few weekends ago I posted about a collection of Jeffrey Campbell shoes I was deciding between on Shopbop. Well I had a complete change of heart and after seeing this cover photo of Alexa Chung, I had to have a pair.

Best part? They're considerably lightweight and have awesome arch support. I was fine walking around all day (and driving in traffic) in them.

Hope you're all having a great Sunday! I'm off to run some errands in the sun and hopefully stuff my face with chips and dip later.

I dream in (spring) colors

< 1 minute

So while I have a few minutes to spare this morning, looking out at some grey skies and rain, I'm dreaming of springggg.

Back in Reno, spring is a cruel, cruel mistress, showing up one day, promising blue skies and birds chirping, the next? Snow, random hail storms and wind gusts strong enough to knock you over. I've always felt a little deprived of spring growing up so I'm happy to have a California one this time around. I already have jean cut-off shorts, loose floral tanks and sun hats in mind. And some good quality time in Golden Gate Park. Yes.

What are you guys looking forward to wearing this spring? Care to enter it in Weardrobe's Spring Break Crew contest? Winner receives over $100 worth of new items from PacSun's spring line and a spot in the Spring Break Crew with myself and these lovely ladies: Erin of Calivintage, Jen of Jenloveskev, Indiana of Adored Austin, Jennie of Going West, Julie of Orchid Grey, Mel of Idée Géniale, Sushi of Le Blog de Sushi and Nicole of Gary Pepper Vintage.

Now rain go away, please!

to the kid living upstairs from me…

2 minute read

To the eight-year old kid living upstairs from me, please, please, please stop screaming. I am this close to going up there and telling you that Santa doesn't exist.

Go ahead, kid. Try me.

On a lighter, I-want-to-put-out-positive-vibes-into-the-universe note, today was beautiful. Warm, clear, no rain and the light at 4 this afternoon was perfect. Suz and I strolled around during a break at work and stumbled upon this post office. The faded mint green and rust pink colors were too tasty to pass up.

And might I just add, I have been in love with this particular jacket for quite some time now. I remember spotting it at ModCloth around Christmas time, but put it on the back burner in the spirit of Christmas and already over-charged credit cards. It arrived yesterday at work and I haven't really pulled it off since! It's a lightweight leather/suede combo and buttery to the touch! And don't get me started on that drape. I die.

Oh, the yellow lips you ask? No, no neon collagen injections for me. The lovely folks at Lulu Guinness sent me this cute, "Lips" clutch. How fun, right?

Jacket: Urban Icon Jacket, courtesy of ModCloth
Shirt: Black tank top, can't remember where I got it?
Jeans: White skinny distressed jeans, PacSun

P.S. OK, OK. I won't go burst that kid's bubble about Santa. But if he tries this again at 6 a.m., I can't be held responsible for early morning grogginess.

snapped out of it

2 minute read

Apologies for the horribly emo post yesterday. I was in a funk (because we're human after all) and really appreciate the kind words you all had to offer. Sometimes, you just don't feel like facing the day and doing an outfit post, ya feel me? Of course you do.

That said, I was determined to put a smile on and I actually amazed myself while taking these photos today. Flashback several months ago to when This Time Tomorrow was still starting up and I was lurking for somewhat deserted areas to take outfit photos, afraid someone would see and consequently judge/laugh/point/cat call. While I'm sure I still get judged, laughed and pointed at and god knows, there will always be some dude to cat call you, today I took up the sidewalk (moving out of the way of course for people passing by), with no concern for what others thought.

Oh, how I love little triumphs.

Oh, and how I'm loving my nude tones lately. Breath of fresh air, if you ask me.

technical difficulties

< 1 minute

Here at This Time Tomorrow, we're experiencing a few, minor technical difficulties, namely being, I can't find a damn thing in this room. (It literally took me 45 minutes yesterday to find a pair of black tights.) Remnants of the move, the black garbage bags (bottom right) are still strew about the house as I thought I would make it easier on myself and dump everything at once.

Wrong.

Good thing our couch is comfy, because I don't have a bed until I get my butt in gear. Which is hard when the sun is actually out shining today. I'm torn.

Ah. Hell. I'm going outside. Looks like the couch again.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Update: I just noticed that there are four This Time Tomorrow dresses left at ModCloth, let's be spring dress twins! 🙂 Heck, I might have to get another one because I'm pretty sure mine is lost in the depths of this pile.

I noticed Katy's post about her go-to outfit the other day and realized, HEY, that's my go-to outfit, too! So in the spirit of jumping on bandwagons here, I give you, my go-to, I-have-to-move-my-entire-closet-in-one-night-to-another-part-of-the-bay-area outfit -- skinny jeans, a blazer (surprise, surprise), a t-shirt, heels and a scarf .

On another note, yes, we have green manequins that hang out around the office. And yes, they are split in half. Don't ask me why. They just are.

On another note, who else is going to see Alice in Wonderland tomorrow night, midnight showing?!? I can hardly wait! Just seeing these trailers pop up around the internet is making me a giddy girl, as evidenced in some of the above goofy photos.

sans tights

2 minute read

And the blazer collection continues. To the point I think I may have a problem. Here's the convo Suz and I had in Zara, minutes before the purchase of this khaki beauty:

Me: I dunno. Maybe I have too many blazers?
Suz: OK. How many colors do you have?
Me: A couple black ones, a navy one, a pink one, a white one… (counting on my fingers while juggling a pile of clothes)
Suz: And now a khaki one?
Me: And now a khaki one.
Suz: You don't have a grey one. You're fine. Get it. (As she walks away mid sentence, attracted by a pretty dress nearby.)

And that folks, is how I spent too much money (and too much time staring off into space while counting on my fingers in the middle of Zara) this weekend. For the sake of my pocketbook and pride, I hope boyfriend blazers don't go WAY out of style within the next couple of years. I think I may need to start living in them.

If that story didn't entertain you (let's face it, it probably didn't), check out my friend Jordan's post about his love of tea and Lady Gaga. Yes. All in the same post. Because why not?

sunday shopping in bed

2 minute read

If you couldn't tell, mama needs a new pair of shoes. And yes, she's shopping in bed. There's something about being off your feet that just makes you want to adorn them with something that more than likely hurts then, right?

What I love about wedges (the obvious theme above) is that they support more of your foot and if walking around San Fran, they make walking up Masonic Street a piece of cake. (Heck, I even ran up that hill, which in hindsight, wasn't a good idea when carrying bags of clothes, but I digress.) Plus, I think most of these will transition nicely into spring, with cute floral dress combos and cropped trousers.

I'm contemplating getting one of the above Jeffrey Campbells, available now at Shopbop, a lovely new sponsor of This Time Tomorrow. Do you guys have a favorite? Let's hear it! The polls are open now!

1.) Pilgrim Snip Toe Booties, $169.40
2.) Acme Lace Up Boots with Removable Kiltie, $190
3.) Potion Ankle Boots, $165
4.) Montreal Perforated Suede Booties, $158
5.) Tick Wedge Booties, $200
6.) Tickle Open Toe Slashed Booties, $145

And just in case I haven't said it enough lately, I just want to thank each and everyone of you for reading! Your support and love amazes me everyday, to the point I have to pinch myself sometimes. Seriously. No one was supposed to read this blog besides my mom, and she admits to not even checking it that often. (It's OK, mom. No hard feelings.)

Plus, special thanks to Kait of the blog Kait Moss for the Haight Street store tips. So nice meeting you yesterday in SF! Hope your day of shopping was successful!

Happy Sunday, guys! Time for an afternoon run…

happy weekend

< 1 minute

What better way to spend a Friday but with a (faux) fur vest, snuggled up as it rains outside for most of the day? Luckily, the sun peeped out for a bit, just in time for these photos.

Lately, I've been hitting a bit of a dry spot inspiration wise. My room is currently covered in hot mess dresses, blazers, jeans and god knows what else. (Ah, who am I kidding, it's usually like that.) Point is, I've been coming up short when putting outfits together. Nothing works. And I leave the apartment cranky and frustrated (partially due to lack of the a.m. caffeine dose).

Hopefully, after some fruitful (bhaha, yes, fruitful) thrifting and consequent cleansing of the closet this weekend in San Fran, I'll feel energized again.

Maybe.

Happy weekend, guys!

Great weekend.

As for today, I decided to slump around in some comfy layers and actually rather liked the color combo. Stark white, tan and black, with a dash of floral. Lovely. Perfect outfit for a rather rainy day.
