from the rooftops {holiday soirée with absolut x hoppr}

4 minute read
While I may not quite consider myself the most "domestic" person around, I do love to throw a little party from time to time. It gives me a chance to stretch my decorating legs, plan out playlists, get just the right appetizers (most of which I usually purchase from Murray's Cheese and/or Whole Foods) and pick out a fun venue space. In fact, I think in another life, I wouldn't mind being a party planner (read: NOT wedding planner).
But my favorite part? Getting a gaggle of my best girlfriends together for some much needed catch up time over cocktails. Granted with the holidays already upon us, it's gotten harder and harder to squeeze in time with everyone, between traveling and work and well, life. This is where the mobile site Hoppr by Absolut comes in.
Similar to a dating site, where you match up with people when there's a mutual swipe ;), Hoppr connects party goers with party throwers (and visa versa), in an effort to mix up guest lists. When you register, you connect your profile with your Facebook account, so it's a fun way to see common connections/friends of friends pop up as possible attendees that you may not have thought of inviting in the first place. Think of it as mixers of yesteryear.
And this past week? I gave it a shot! On my rooftop to be exact, which worked out perfectly given the unseasonably warm weather we've been having in New York City lately. I opted for a more casual, bohemian feel (because let's face it, our feet are worn out from all those holiday heels lately), and layered some of my favorite rugs and throws for a late afternoon picnic vibe. Bonus points for: our bottles of limited edited Absolut doubling as decor -- silver and electric blue -- and these beautiful floral centerpieces thanks to BloomThat (which I handed out as parting gifts at the end of the evening).
We snacked on Humbolt Fog and Truffle Tremor (two of my all time favorite cheeses), watched the sunset blaze the sky above the Empire State Building and listened to more than our fair share of Leon Bridges. As for the drink of choice? An easy and refreshing Moscow Mule, my go-to vodka drink, recipe below:
Squeeze 1/2 ounce of lime juice into a copper Moscow Mule mug (or a Collins glass works, too), and drop in the spent shell
Add 2-3 ice cubes
Pour in 2 ounces of Absolut Original Vodka
Pour in 4-6 ounces of ginger beer
Serve with a stirring rod

This post was in partnership with Absolut. As always, all opinions and styling are my own. Thank you for supporting all This Time Tomorrow collaborations! Enjoy responsibly.

sanctuary {apartment inspiration}

3 minute read
For those of you who have followed This Time Tomorrow for a little while now, and perhaps saw my last few apartments captured in a variety of home tours, you know that I love a good clean, white room, with black and gold accents. And at this point, if you unpacked my boxes with me this weekend (speaking of, anyone wanna help?), you'd find I've accumulated more than my fair share of trinkets, statuettes, frames and general oddities in some gold or crisp black finish. Guilty as charged.
While I still have an affinity for that somewhat eclectic glam approach, I've been craving to mix things up lately and start fresh. Before leaving San Francisco, I purged a lot of furniture and home decor items that I found I just wasn't in love with anymore. Items that just didn't make me smile as much as they used to or pieces of furniture that felt like it was more of an obligation to bring and not a-can't-live-without sensation.
So what's on the clean slate, you ask? Lately, I've been drawn to more moody spaces: accent walls in deep blues and greys, rustic, unfinished wood furniture, rich leather chairs that you can sink into and even considering venturing into wallpaper territory (the oversized, art-like kind, of course).
Here are a few pins I've been going back to lately for inspiration. I'm excited to dig into the local flea market scene here in New York and slowly craft and build out my little nook here in the West Village.

While our apartment hunt continues, the man friend and I are slowly warming up to the idea of us decorating a space together. Let's just say he prefers function over aesthetic and, well, I'll give you one guess as to what side of the fence I'm on. In fact, his main concern, which he voiced the other day was as follows, "You do know our apartment can't be black, white and lots of gold, right?"
My heart sunk a little. But what else would it be?

Which brings me back to the drawing room, i.e. Pinterest, to start hunting for ways to make the space more masculine. And in all honesty, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! While I'm going to push for a white couch and black accents (sorry Dan!) I think there are plenty of ways to give it more manly touches, like these images above. I love how a crisp white couch is the main focal point, but accents like rustic, natural wood, dark mahogany leather and taxidermy pieces can add a different perspective where I might have otherwise added, say an oversized gold piggy bank
Needless to say, we have a ways to go, but baby steps, people. Baby steps! 😉

wednesday wishlist

< 1 minute

It's funny how something like decorating a room never feels quite done. There's always something to change, modify, add or just rearrange completely. Much like personal style, interior decor seems to constantly evolve with a person over time.

Disclaimer aside, here are just a few things I've been craving to add to my apartment lately, you know, to spruce and liven things up a bit.

1.) Horse lamp, Room Service, $245
2.) Brass legs, Kelly Wearstler, $1,495
3.) Kostick foldable star sculpture, Design Within Reach, $22 - $160
4.) Letter pillow, Jonathan Adler, $110
5.) Brass bar cart, The Furniture Butler, $1,070
6.) Vintage Vogue covers, Conde Nast Store, $125

weekend favorites

1.) Fresh picked hydrangeas from the garden. (Thanks Dave and Gina!)
2.) Yummy little lace dress and cross body scooped up from Zara -- can't wait to wear this week for our unexpected heat wave (read: temps in the mid 70s).
3.) Painting some chest of drawers -- can't wait to add these crystal knobs.
4.) Experimenting with this oval gold frame I picked up at the Alameda Flea Market a few weeks ago. I think it's now friends with my antlers.
5.) Anyone else addicted to coffee table books? I can't stop adding to my pile!
