I've always been notorious for jumping the gun, especially when it comes to transitional dressing. Just ask my mom. I was that kid, eagerly waiting to sport all my new tank tops and shorts the minute winter weather seemed to be waning. And I usually regretted it by mid-day, wishing I had a few of my warmer layers with me to wrap up in.
Granted, I like to think I'm much wiser now (or just got tired of freezing) and have, in my humble opinion, mastered a few layering tricks that come in handy for the awkward in between seasons. Especially in San Francisco, where it's pretty common to wake up to blue, sunny skies and return after work to fog, harsh winds and surprise showers. Go figure.
This time around, I've partnered with White House Black Market to show just how you can blend your new spring pieces with the trusty autumn/winter staples you already have in rotation and still look put together. It's all about balance really. While these slouchy printed pants will be my go-tos for beach walks later this season, the leather jacket toughens it up, making it instantly street ready (and warm). Silk tops (like the one here) are always MVPs in my closet, but during these months, I'll usually make a point to add a layering tank underneath, just to ensure a little extra insulation (for when they crank up the AC at work!).
I'm curious -- how do you guys dress for this in between season we're in? Any closet staples you rely on? Would love to hear -- let me know in the comments below!
