I know what you're thinking.

Red? For Valentine's Day? How groundbreaking. Almost as earth-shattering as florals for spring, operative word there being almost. Of course, for those who are familiar around these parts, know I love a good red moment -- and this time of year, I embrace it. Let's review the evidence.

Exhibit A: Remember this red dress that we snapped underground at the West 4th subway station? Yep, so do all my other fellow A train riders.

Exhibit B: Let's keep things moving with the same red dress, different locale: the Brooklyn Bridge. Granted, we snapped these photos in the midst of summer (and managed to get our butts there at 5am, just in time for sunrise), and you know what? I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Exhibit C: And then, there was this Self Portrait dress that was pretty much made for every kind of twirling, spinning, frolicking photograph you can think of -- the best though, being right here in Oia, Santorini last year.

Naturally, there's a spectrum when it comes to pulling red off, and come Valentine's Day, it's important (and when I say important, I don't really mean it's IMPORTANT, it's a color, people), to figure out where you stand when it comes to sporting it. Which is why, today, I've put together a few of my favorite ways to wear red, ranging from FULL ON CRIMSON (like today's international spy look) to the PLAYFUL NOD (like this red boot number), so no matter what you're planning for Valentine's Day this year, you'll have a few tricks up your proverbial sartorial sleeve.

Let's kick it off, shall we?

[prodl brand="Rebecca Vallance" product="Beltran cold shoulder midi dress" description="This is one of those perfect date-night ready dresses that would look AMAZING worn during the daytime with a turtleneck. Just saying. Two birds, one stone. Plus, I love how tomato red the color is -- perfect come spring time." link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsK7"][/prodl]

[prodr brand="Johanna Ortiz" product="Lavina cutout velvet dress" description="This dress, on the other hand, screams TAKE ME OUT, whether you're heading out for date night or just treating yourself with the girls. The velvet bodice and cutout step up the game here and the mermaid flare probably makes it hard for anyone NOT to be looking at you while you exit." link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsLV"][/prodr]

[prodl brand="Mother of Pearl" product="Pearl-embellished cotton-tweed coat" description="When it comes to red moments, a red coat is always classic and the easiest to style, despite how loud the color might look overall. I love keeping things simple and this Mother of Pearl coat would look especially chic with a black turtleneck underneath, skinny jeans and a pair of over the knee boots. Also, did you spot those pearls?!" link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsQn"][/prodl]

[prodr brand="Burberry" product="Sandringham cashmere trench coat" description="Granted, a Burberry trench is an investment -- one I haven't made yet, but I like to think a red one would make a serious repeat appearance in my early to late fall rotation. And possibly perfect for my upcoming trip to London in May!" link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsOO"][/prodr]

[prodl brand="Le Specs X Adam Selman" product="The Last Lolita" description="So these glasses are a bit statement, I get it. The shape AND the color can seem a bit in your face. But I love the idea of them paired simply with a white sweater, high waisted jeans, and a camel coat -- the sunglasses are really the only pop of color you need." link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsRT"][/prodl]

[prodr brand="Steve Madden" product="Century woven bootie" description="I have a very similar pair of Steve Maddens and I have to admit, they are SO fun to style. I usually don't make it very far without someone commenting as I'm walking down the street (I mean, they are pretty attention grabbing! And, pretty much no one believes me when I tell them they're by Steve Madden." link="http://shopstyle.it/l/xsSv"][/prodr]
