After living in San Francisco for the past 5 years (my anniversary comes up this February!), I've accumulated quite the list of favorite haunts and stomping grounds, from restaurants to parks, bars to hikes around the Bay. Without a doubt, the de Young Museum nestled in the heart of Golden Gate Park, has to be one of my all-time favorites. I remember visiting it years ago during one of my first, "big-girl" weekends of exploring my new city and leaving completely smitten with the plaza that sits between the de Young and the California Academy of Sciences. It's riddled with trees, benches where friends and lovers can sit, fountains sprinkled throughout and an undeniable Parisian weekend vibe that's utterly addicting. I could sit out there for hours (and have on occasion to read books and people watch).
This past weekend, we trekked out to the de Young for the Keith Haring exhibit, which I highly recommend you make it out for, if you happen to be in the area. And speaking of favorite haunts, I think it may be time to update my San Francisco favorite lists. If you recall, I've rounded up my favorite shopping and dining spots here and here respectively. Perhaps a third installment is in order. Stay tuned...
